The subject of this book is the detailed analysis of the rituals and objects used in the religious structure of Ancient Mesopotamia from the beginning of the historical era to the Persian domination. This subject, which is connected to many fields of social sciences such as History, Theology, Sociology, Anthropology, Archaeology, Etiology, will not only illuminate the religious system of the period but also provide an opportunity to understand the culture, economy, political and sociological structure of the societies living in that period.
The main purpose of describing various objects used in ancient Mesopotamian rituals is to shed light on the belief system of the region and period, the rituals practiced by the society and the place of these rituals in daily life, and the purposes of using sacred and non-sacred objects. This book explains the rituals practiced in Mesopotamia and the variety of objects used, the differences in their purposes, the fact that certain gods took part in rituals as objects, and the inclusion of anthropomorphic god statues as objects in every ritual, as well as issues specific to Mesopotamia. Thus, it is aimed to shed light on the social, socio-cultural, religious and economic structure of the period, its interaction with surrounding regions and religions, and to contribute to future studies in this context.
