The information provided by ceramics, which is the most important group of cultural remains that provide information about societies that lived in ages about which there is no or insufficient philological information, constitutes important clues that enable us to understand human history. When the structure of ceramic dough, firing and shaping techniques, vessel shapes and surface appearances are examined, the needs of the societies of the age in which they were used, the level of technology they reached, their tastes, the relationships between different societies, social and ethnic differences, the borders of the regions where these societies lived and their life processes can also be understood. This book, which we published as Archaeology and Art Publications, has been prepared as a reference and handbook that shows the methods to be applied in order to fully evaluate the information that ceramic findings obtained in archaeological research can provide in terms of cultural history.
