"Aegean Ceramics from Byzantium to the Modern Period " is the first general introduction and handbook to medieval and later Aegean ceramics, a very important, though little studied, part of Mediterranean archaeology. This publication is a groundbreaking reference book, presenting comprehensively the most important Post-Classical ceramic types found in museums and archaeological excavations around the Aegean Sea, dating from the Early Byzantine to the Early Modern period.
This handbook includes descriptions of approximately 80 ceramic types, along with basic bibliographic references, recent scholarly discussions of chronological issues, and a glossary of technical terms. By translating this publication into Turkish, Koç University Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED) hopes to make it more accessible to archaeologists, field workers, scholars, and students in Turkey, as well as to anyone interested in the history of the Eastern Mediterranean during the Byzantine and Ottoman periods.
