Azatiwata, who received the support of Awariku, the king of the Adanawa Country in the Iron Age, came to the fore with his wisdom, fairness and virtuous personality at a time when politics, war, intrigue and espionage games were at their peak. After Awariku was exiled and died, Azatiwata became king and had to deal with Assyria and its famous king Sargon II, which was founded on the politics of blood and fear in the east, the Phrygian king Midas, who planned to take over the region with greed for wealth, intrigue, lies and conspiracies in the west and the Cimmerians, who were more ruthless than Assyria, in the north. He managed the chaos and crisis environment in the best way possible by protecting the dynasty he was affiliated with. He ensured that Awariku's children sat on their father's throne, established his kingdom in the place known today as Karatepe in order to prevent the entry of plundering groups coming from the northeast into the country and named the settlement Azatiwataya. Karatepe describes itself and a dark period with the language of writing, picture writing and painting. As we begin to explore the mysterious world of Karatepe, we will once again be reminded that wishes and legends are bound to come true.
