William Shakespeare is considered the greatest playwright of all time. He is the creator of great tragedies such as Hamlet, King Lear, Othello and Macbeth, as well as comedies such as A Midsummer Night, The Taming of the Shrew and As You Like It. His language contains idioms that are incomprehensible or misunderstood by modern readers, dialects and slang used in Elizabethan English, and connotations specific to that period. The most striking feature of Shakespeare's texts is the use of the same spelling in different plays with different nuances and even different meanings.
For this dictionary, all of Shakespeare's plays and poems, including The Two Noble Kinsmen, Elizabethan slang, idioms and sayings have been scanned, and the Turkish equivalents of nearly 20,000 words have been provided with examples. The act, scene and line numbers of each word are shown, allowing the reader to directly access the words used in the text. Prepared by Prof. Özdemir Nutku, known for his Shakespeare translations, this dictionary is the most comprehensive in its field.
