By reading the stories of Zeus and the women he was with in a holistic way through a feminist paradigm, this study reveals how the thousands of years old mother goddess cult has been systematically devalued in society and how male power has utilized myths in shaping society.
Mythological stories are complex structures that reflect the views, thoughts and feelings of the society in which they emerged, the political and social structure of the society, and even the reflections of the history of thought through the ways they are interpreted. Therefore, in order to go beyond stereotyped interpretations in revealing the social dynamics behind these stories, the sciences of history, sociology and anthropology are in need of each other. In parallel with all these, this study, for the first time, has evaluated the women who entered Zeus's life as a whole together with Zeus's existence, going beyond the usual classical allegorical evaluations, and has aimed to fill an important gap in terms of both mythology and Greek cultural history. In this respect, the book takes Zeus and his women beyond being entertaining anecdotes and sheds light on the roots of gender discrimination, the seeds of which were sown in the Greek world and have survived to the present day, in the Greek religious structure.
